Many people dream of having a pet.  Pet adoption is a way to give animals a chance to have a wonderful life with a loving family.  Although, having a pet is fun, there’s work involved too.

Author Andrea Petty Burch’s book, Lilly and Me: A Story About Adopting a Pet is an informative children’s book about the rewarding experience of adopting and caring for a pet.  One, day Mom and Dad take their son to visit an animal shelter to adopt a family pet.  His mom makes sure her young son knows the responsibilities that come with having a pet.

Lilly and Me: A Story About Adopting a Pet, written with both parents and children in mind, assists parents in teaching their children the many responsibilities that go with having a pet and how rewarding the experience can be.  Vivid illustrations and rhyming stanzas make the book easy for the child to memorize.  It is an exciting and fun book children will want to read over and over again.

Andrea Petty Burch retired from AT&T in 2009, after twenty years of service.  She lives in McGregor, Texas, with her husband, David Burch, and their Bichon Frises, Lilly (who inspired the book) and Gracie; a German Shepherd named Maggie; and Daisy, a Havanese mix adopted from an animal rescue, Fuzzy Friends in Waco, Texas.  Her vision is that Lilly and Me educates children about the many responsibilities that come with pet ownership.
